The Surveyor is responsible for coordinating pre-field evaluations for determining the scope of work. The surveyor will also be responsible for the survey and layout on bridges, highway, and foundation on heavy civil projects.
Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Work with project manager and other surveyors to complete surveys.
Research maps and other records to obtain data needed.
Prepare legal descriptions, right-of-ways, lot line adjustments, and mergers.
Plan and organize surveying efforts to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, mapmaking, land division, titles, mining, or other purposes
Keep accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed
Perform field surveying to obtain data for base plans
Provide work control lines and elevations that are required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by crafts, i.e., forms for concrete pours, anchor bolts, piping hangers and supports, etc.
Computes cross sections of work performed for cost or payment purposes.
Provide topographic and cross-section surveys as required for planning and payment quantities.
Provide quantity calculations as required.
Prepare documentation of surveying activities.
Coordinate surveying activities with the assigned engineer to meet the construction requirements and is responsible for accuracy of this field engineering work
Thorough knowledge of TXDOT, Municipal, County specifications.
5+ years of experience of surveying in heavy civil construction preferably.
Experience working on TXDOT, City, Municipal projects.
Experience with AutoCAD is a plus
Construction staking experience
Experience with preparing as-built drawings
Experience with GPS Systems
Land Surveyor License is preferred.
Ability to distinguish difference in materials.+Ability to understand elevations and offset info.
Knowledge of field safety.
