Texas Sterling Construction Co. provides opportunities to learn and make application technical principles in our internship program. TSC offers both field and office internships depending on the experience and interest of the candidates and on the availability of projects. Our internships are with the goal to evaluate the candidates' potential as a possible future, full-time employee.

We offer interns and opportunity to receive diversified training through on-the-job assignments using the technical skills acquired in college. Each intern will be assigned a mentor. to help develop both technical and professional skills.

Assist field engineers/project managers and/or estimating and scheduling departments on a construction project either at a project site or divisional office. Working side by side with experienced Project Managers and/or Estimators provides an excellent environment for both academic and career growth. The intern will be responsible for assisting project engineering, project accounting, and superintendent staff with daily duties including but not limited to: managing project document flow, taking progress photos of job sites, submittal review and approval process, RFI process, change management process, and any other duties specific to each jobsite.

  

Responsibilities

The Construction Management and Civil Engineering Intern is responsible for assisting the Project Management, Field Supervision and/or Estimating departments on a construction project either at a project site or divisional office.  Working side by side with experienced Project Managers, Field Supervision, and/or Estimators provides an excellent environment for both academic and career growth.   The intern will be responsible for assisting project engineering, project accounting, and superintendent staff with daily duties including but not limited to: managing project document flow, taking progress photos of jobsite, submittal review and approval process, RFI process, change management process, and any other duties specific to each jobsite. The intern should be proficient with Microsoft Office. Attention to detail, ability to multi-task, excellent communication skills, ability to read construction drawings are essential.  Dependable transportation is required.

Qualifications

Internship Position Requirements:

  • Junior or Senior
  • Minimum GPA 2.75
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Science or Construction Management

 

Internship Work Schedule:

Summer 2018 (May – August) Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 5:00pm, plus overtime when needed
